Oil Refinery
Water is going to be needed for basic oil refinery, so the first move is to add it to the liquid section of the bus. It can be pumped south from the starter water source until the coal station and then easily access the bus from there. It will also be needed to make concrete in the stone block, so it’s worth swinging down to pass by it as well.
Basic Oil Refinery
The block to the north of green circuits will be used for oil refinery. The first part of the oil refinery block is 16 refineries doing basic recipe for petrol, and storing in in a tank.
The chemical plants for sulphuric acid, sulphur, and plastic are further up the block. Bring in iron plates and coal from the bus to it and 6 chemical plants are for petrol and water to make sulphur, 2 chemical plants are for sulphur and iron to make sulphuric acid and store in atank, and 14 chem plants for coal and petrol to make plastic. Output the acid, sulphur, and plastic to bus.
Red Circuits
In the block to the north of the oil refinery is the block for red circuits. Half the block will be set up for now, and each half is made up of two rows of 4 assemblers for copper cables, and 24 assemblers of red circuits. Bring in half a belt of copper plates and insert the resulting cables on the other half of the belt being run past the red circuit assemblers, and filter out copper plates. The other infeed belt is half plastic and half green circuits. The red circuits are inserted onto the other half of the belt as the copper cables, filtering out the cables at the end of the belt. Send the red circuits out to bus, split so that is flows to the north and south. Make sure to set up a chest to grab a couple of stacks of red circuits for handcrafting.
Blue Science
Once red circuits are on the bus, it’s time to return to the science block to fill it with blue science production. The is a pretty complicated build, especially to fit it into 50x50, so once again I’d point you to Nilaus’s patreon for the blueprint. Basically there are 24 assemblers making blue science that are feed with a belt that is half sulphur and half red circuits. Then, on location there are 20 assemblers making engines for the third component of blue science. Iron and steel are fed in and gears and pipes are assembled for the construction of engines. The blue science is put on the other half of the military belt to be shipped up to the labs.
Once the blue science is being consumed, research the path to robots: Advance oil processing, Lubricant, Electric engine, Robotics, Construction robotics, Logistics robotics. Also keep an eye on biters as the factory ramps up to produce plastic, red circuits, and blue science.
